How I Use Star Wars in the Classroom

Decor mainly, right now. But I also use the Literacy Programs called Daily 5 abd CAFE. So my Star Wars bend on CAFE, which stands comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, Expanding Vocabulary, has been turned into "the FACE of a Jedi." Students strive to become masters of reading by training in the trials (using the strategies). I'm just beginning, but have had a blast getting my class, which is 67% boys, excited about improving their reading abilities through using this. Also, I make the claim every year that Star Wars has some of the characteristics that qualify it as a fairy tale. It always sparks a good discussion! And, of course, I have celebrated May the fourth, for the past 3 years, with various activities for across the contents that day.
