How I Use Star Wars in the Classroom

I am lucky to teach a genre studies course to seniors "Mystery/Horror/Science Fiction" and have included "Star Wars" as part of the Space Opera unit. I am also a Humanities teacher and utilize the saga when we study the Hero's Journey and epic literature. Prior to the opening of "The Force Awakens," I gave a lecture to our Film Studies class which focused on the impact of the "Star Wars" saga on pop culture.
