I teach a classroom of students with autism. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, so it's natural for me to try and use various aspects of it to motivate and teach my students. I have had several students who love Star Wars with me. I would give them Star Wars themed crafts or handwriting topics to complete. We also focus on confidence and perseverance. My favorite Star Wars story in the classroom is of a former second grader that I had. He would frequently become upset if he made mistakes with his work. I gave him the name of "Young Luke" to help boost his confidence. When he was feeling down, I would remind him that he is Luke and he can do anything! He loved the idea and it helped him sometimes.
