My primary use is in a class I call "Philosophy and Myth," which explore the origins of human consciousness in myth and the imagination through the study of Giambattista Vico and others. I leaven the heavy duty epistemology with a good helping of Joseph Campbell ("Here With a Thousand Faces") and require the students to watch the original trilogy and write a term paper using the things we have studied to analyze a part of Star Wars through the principles they have learned. I also use countless Star Wars examples in my Introduction to Logic class, which always lightens the mood and seems to make it easier for folks to get the point.
