I mostly use Star Wars as analogy or humor; often to introduce topics that may be abstract to students, but will gain understanding through a familiar idea in Star Wars. I want to see how other teachers are using SW, and see if I can use those ideas to hook students and other teachers in my school district and state. I'm a promoter of "alternative texts" in the classroom, including comics, graphic novels and even toys--adding Star Wars to my repertoire seems like a good next step.
