How I Use Star Wars in the Classroom

I am the artistic executive for the Grove Community Playmakers. We have a large youth theatre program in conjunction with the school system here, introducing students from 4-8th grades to various points in theatre history and art. The 8th graders get an introduction to Shakespeare before they begin reading it in high school. We have only just found the Star Wars scripts, and hope to use a portion of the first book (Act III) in a classroom readers'theatre this semester and the full play next year.
